I am thinking about a gear vendors overdrive for increased gearing and highway driving also,But rebuilding a existing model to keep costs down. I was wondering what is the deal in decreased time slips 2 tenths etc.

Instead of shifting into second gear, you engage the overdrive, then shift into 2nd and then into 3rd.
