1968 442/Cutlass floor shift speedometer

Dug into my dash and found I have a 1969 speedometer, without the speedo retaining clip, AND a broken cable end! Ughh. (refer to pics)..

Now looking for the correct 68 speedometer.

Thanks

I'm not sure ... IIRC the '68-9 speedos are identical in outward appearance. Is there an event where judging is so thorough that they're gonna dig around in back of your dash to ding you points for having the wrong speedometer?

No. The 68 speedometer has a threaded end on it, where as the 69's (and up0 have the push in retaining clip... I have a new, correct 68 cable, with the threaded ends.... Not being correct, at all on this car, as it is a driver, and nothing more. Just want a working speedometer and fuel gauge (fuel gauge is another issue)...

I have a '69 442 floor shift speedo. Since you have to replace the cable anyway, it will fit and function perfectly with a '69 cable. I'm pretty sure that I have the cable for it, also. Please let me know if interested and I'll send pics. Thanks, Bob.

He already bought the correct 68 Speedo from me….the 68 and 69 have different markings on the face plate so yours would be incorrect…..and besides when I’m the first to respond why do you try to undersell me and interject your parts for sale, have some courtesy Bob….you do it all the time and I’m tired of it, have some respect
I spend bunch time digging parts out and taking pictures and then you come in ….no respect

I'm truly sorry if I hurt your vagina! First of all, there was no indication that any deal was made with you or anyone else. Secondly, I didn't undercut anyone's price, as I didn't post any. I treat everyone on this forum with respect and I don't complain when someone else offers an alternative to a part that I have offered up. I have been on here for 18 years, and if there was an issue with how I respond to wanted posts, I'm sure that the mods would have let me know. Have a nice day.
