1954 Olds 88 4 door for parts. Updated with Treadle Vac photos. 3.17.2019
Hi All
I picked this up a couple months ago and am wanting to dismantle it. The guy I got it from used it as a parts car to restore a 2 door car. The side trim, I'd like $35 each piece. The doors, I'd like $75 each without the glass or internal parts. The drivers side quarter panel had the gas tank door cut out, so its only good for patch panels. I'd like $100 plus shipping for this panel, I'll cut off and ship whatever portion you want. The passengerside quarter panel is in good shape, with the exception a portion of the inner wheel well was cut off when the previous owner removed the trunk floor. I'd like $175 for this quarter panel and again, I'll cut and ship the whole panel or just a portion if you'd like. It has power brakes and power steering, I'd like $250 for the power brake setup. I have someone interested in the power steering already and the deck or trunk lid. If they decide to pass on them I'll update this post. Let me know if you have any questions or would like to see additional photos of anything.
Here's the Treadle Vac brake system. I believe I have everything needed for the conversion to power brakes, but if you need something else let me know. The brand on the master cylinder is Bendix. I don't know what the valve or solenoid is in the lower left, that was between the master cylinder and the large vacuum can. When I removed the large vacuum can it had liquid in it that turned out to be brake fluid. Consider this a core setup that needs rebuilt! John
Oldsmoboogie, I'll look. The previous owner used this for a parts car and pulled a lot of stuff off the dash. Would a 1955 interchange? I also have a 1955 Olds 98 4 door.

I don’t know for sure, I have a 56. I was hoping you could take a picture. I will do some research and see. When I got my car I was missing the switch and trim.
Oldsmoboogie, here's a photo of the ignition ring that holds the switch in the dash on a 1955. I didn't have time to pull it this weekend, but does this look like the shape of what was used in 1956? Sorry, my camera was acting up and wouldn't do the auto-focus any closer. John
Sorry for the delay, came down with the flu after Christmas! It will be the weekend before I have time to play with the cars. But I'll pull the ignition switch ring for you. Headlight retaining ring, is that the outer chrome bezel or something that holds the light bulb in? May or may not have that. Pretty sure I've got a wiper arm though. I'll see what I can come up with and post pictures for you. John
I dont need the chrome bezel, just the thin stainless ring that holds the headlight to the bucket. I’m in no hurry when ever you can get to it. Thank you
Do you still have the power brakes unit? I definitely am interested
William, I wasn't getting any interest on the complete setup so I began selling pieces of it. I do still have the 1955 parts car that I believe has a complete setup on it. If your interested in that I can pull these parts from it and let you know their condition.
John
Yes, if the 54 and 55 are interchangeable i would definitely be interested in the whole system. Im also looking for a back bumper for the 54
I believe they are interchangeable, but we can check with the guru's here to be sure. I sold the power booster, vacuum tank, and solenoid from the 1954 setup. I have the rest so if the brake pedal is different in appearance, or parts of this are better than what's on the 1955 we can put together the best parts for you. John
We kind of lost track of this item. I figured when you got the 1964 442 that became the focus of your attention. Let me know if you still want this piece.
John
John: unless someone says they are not compatible i want it all or whatever you can assemble. Let me know, and if a photo is available that would be great. Give me a quote if you can. Thanks, Bill

Sounds good Bill, let me get things pulled so we can see what condition everything is in. Then we can double check with some of the 1950's vintage guys here to make sure the parts will interchange between the two years.

yes I would still like to purchase this. Thank you
Hi William
Sorry, I got sidetracked and forgot to pull the parts for you. I just removed the treadlevac and found its a different brand than what I pulled off the 1954. It looks similar, but I'd like to run this by the guys who really know this vintage before I say for sure it will interchange. The four bolts that attach to the floorboard plate match up. John
William, the vacuum can looks solid, but its got some big dents and the mounting legs have been removed and repaired... sort of! If you were interested in this I'd test it to be sure it will hold a vacuum. John
William, I've been told the 1955 tredle vac does not interchange with 1954. I've got a core 1954 somewhere in the shed, I think its in rough condition but don't remember for sure so I'll located and share pictures with you. I don't want to delay your project, if this is holding you up I'd encourage you to create a parts wanted thread and see if someone else can come up with one for you. John
John, i have not received my car yet do to this covid crap, but i knew the treadle vac was an issue, and had decided to stockpile parts. If any of the parts you have are good i will be willing to purchase them. I can send my address whenever you know for sure.

Hello William. OK, I'll locate the core tredle vac and get the details on it for you. Was there anything else you know your car may need?
Im sure there will be. I just found a rear bumper in Montana. I will ask him about the treadle vac on his. I haven’t purchased anything through this site so i hope you will teach me the ins and outs. Thank u
