If is didn't have a timing light I would be all over that. I have an old Sears Dwell Meter/Tach that I know is over 30 years old. Still works.

timing light has a feature that allows you to add in an amount of timing, for example I can see when my timing is at 36 degrees by dialing in 36 and the timing mark would be at zero.

It's handy for reading vacuum and mech advances that are in excess of the std 14 degree pointer.

I would guess they mean
A light with an adjustable "dial" on the back
set it at desired advance and then set timing mark at zero

Gah I bought the innova 3568 dial back light w rpm readout, it's awesome ...is what I said until I used for the third time and it stopped functioning.

i called innova as it has a 1 year warranty ( I bought it in July 2017). Innova agreed it should work longer than 1 year an two months but they would not offer anything else but their std $70 plus I pay shipping repair fee. FYI the light was $80 new so they offered nothing.

the above Sears light I sold worked fine at over 25 yrs old!

if you buy an innova product I reccomend you get the square trade warranty w it as innova doesn't stand behind their junk!!!

Morale here is don't buy Innova junk to start with. $70 repair fee for an $80 light? That's garbage. Chances are any warranty repairs aren't going to last either.

and ranger comes around to the start again.

POd at innova i found they have the best offering at the price range. I can get more expensive units w dial back feature and good ratings but really none for under a hundy ($100)

So i checked out ebay until i found what might be a reasonable deal a light alot like my original one i sold in this thead only w the dial back feature.

despite me pointedly asking the seller does the light and dial back feature work I got a somewhat evasivbe answer of "it did but this is vintage i cant guarentee blah blah"

anyway i took a chance and bought it recd it and immediatly saw it had been dropped on the rheostat? **** and it was jacked up and would turn 360°.

Undaunted (iwas totally daunted) i took the unit apart and found the impact had seperated the mechanical **** assembly where bent metal tangs had held it together, after some fiddling i got it back together and tested the light and dial back feature on my car.

Light works and just using the dial to set the mark to 0 when the car is running w vac advance connected I got around 23° the 3 times i tried it so the dial back feature is at least consistent.

long story short dont get the innova (even tho while it worked it was great)
