Speedometer cable

Hey guys. After some inspection, and someone here was nice enough to notice while i asked about my muncie, the speedo cable is hanging incorrectly. I looked in the book and its supposed to be routed above the 4 speed transmission. It works, but is a bit loose at the transmission connection. My question is, how hard to pull off and re route correctly? There are so many things done to this poor 67 cutlass i scratch my head and everything turns into another cluster****. Now im questioning if this speedo cable is a mess because did someone eff with the milage? Anyway, i definitely dont want cable to hang like this, and I like to fix things properly. Any advice welcomed

Just unscrew the nut on the end, pull it out, re-route and reinstall.
