Replacement for a 1962 Fuel Sending Unit???
I'm looking for a fuel sending unit that has the same basic shape as the one on my 1962 Super 88.
I've pulled the tank to be cleaned and coated, and the fuel sending unit is in really, really bad shape. Just about all it's good for is to use as a pattern to build a new fuel tank sending unit. I have no interest in a $350 a NOS unit. I'm more inclined to find a unit for some other application that has the same general layout, and cannibalize it's parts for a custom rebuild.
Does anyone know if there are any other vehicles that have a tank / sending unit whose physical layout is remotely close to the picture below?

The tank holds 20 gallons, and measures about 45" wide, 8.5" front to back, and 17" tall. The fuel tank sending unit is mounted in a hole that's cut into the front panel of the tank, high on the front wall, so the mounting plate is located high on the vertical front tank wall. (I'll try to get some photos tomorrow.)
I'm not at all worried about impedance matching for the guage. I can take care of the electronics. What I'm trying to do is to find a commonly available inexpensive part that has the basic plumbing layout that will work for a tall, narrow, sideways tank, and use the parts to fabricate something new.
Thanks.
