Fan Shroud

I'm going to fab up a fan shroud for my 65 F85 cutlass. AC car. It will be a rectangle to round. My questions are how much clearance on the round to the fan, and should I try to cover the fan blades completely, or just go half way? I read somewhere not to completely cover. Would appreciate any input. Thanks!

The radial clearance needs to allow for engine movement. Here's one suggested set of guidelines.

Fan shroud

Thanks Joe, I will be going with the 1" clearance all around on the fan.
