I am now starting on paint and interior on my 69’. Front disc brakes were converted using parts from a 72’ Cutlass, front and rear suspension and steering has all been done. I am stripping the car and sending it to the body shop hopefully next weekend. Complete interior was ordered from Legendary, about 2-3 months wait time.
I was looking for the L shaped window stop to remove, so I could get to the felts, I couldn’t find it. I did notice there is a rubber bump stop on both rails of the regulator, is that what I need to remove?
Cool '69 from another '69 Cutlass S factory 4-speed owner. Is the 4 speed original or was it converted over? What's the original color? Somebody did a nice job recovering that rear seat.
I see a '68 Skylark hiding in that garage. Anything special about it? I think the '68/'69 "step-children" Skylarks are cool.
Once you go green....
69s look great in Black, Trophy Blue, Burgundy Mist, and Platinum too. Platinum (or 68 Pruvan) looks great on any car.
If I did my 68 again I think I'd go with Silver or the original K code Ocean Turquoise poly.
Took me a year to choose the red I went with. I saw a 409 Impala in a magazine, took that to the paint shop, and said mix this. Turns out to be a 91 Ford Fleet color "Vivid Red"
Good luck choosing. Let's see it when it comes out of body shop jail.
Color is a very personal choice and the 69 looks good in so many colors that are 69 factory correct.
Couple of minor body mods /choices that I thought were taste full on the 69 Cutlass S
Trunk lid chrome delete
Antenna delete
442 rear bumper - I know this will not go down with some but as a 442 owner I have no problem with this mod.
The small chrome factory mirror / manual mirror - I find the other one looks out of place
Factory hood stripes
Platinum silver is a safe choice - my car came platinum and I will be staying with the original color.
Not having a vinyl roof to delete NICE
You have a very solid platform to build on and you are not wasting anytime.
Looking forward to seeing the car progress
Do you mind sharing the ballpark cost is for the repaint?
Hey Bernhard,
I will keep the trunk lid chrome and the antenna.
Not sure about the 442 rear bumper, I do like the look.
No stripes for me.
I do like the Platinum color, still undecided.
Body shop is charging me $20k so far.

Ooops I thought my original color was nassau blue, but it is tahitian turquoise color code 55
Color sets the look for the build, it all depends on how you want the car to present. Unlike wheels and a cars stance it's not easily reversed. Palomino Gold is a nice color and will give the car a classy look. I think another member painted his 442 that color. You are the only one that has to like the color. Resale value is another factor that comes into play when selecting color

I have owned a Silver 442/ Blue 442/ Burgundy Cutlass S, Palomino gold Cutlass S and Aztec gold 442 all were 1969's
My personal favorite was the Aztec gold 442 the most popular color was metallic blue.
Here is a 69 sporting Aztec Gold
I knew it was turquoise I was seeing. That is a no brainer in my opinion...paint it code 55.
My 68 is a K code car. If I ever repaint it its going back to turquoise.
