Need some help decoding No.
I have a 1966 Toronado Deluxe which I started working on. I attach the labels and hopefully someone could help me discovering the history of that car.
Does anyone have a hint where I could find the engine No on the 425cui?
I like to check if the Toronado has still it's original equipment.
thx
Harald

The engine number is located on the front surface of the passenger side head, but it will not tell you what car the engine came in (though if it is a Toronado engine, it is obviously more likely to be the original).

The first photo (on the left) is vehicle identification number plate.
The first 3 indicates means the Oldsmobile division of General Motors.
The 9 indicates the car series (Toronado).
The 6 designates the engine type (V-8).
The 87 designates the body type (hardtop coupe).
The 6 designates the model year (1966).
The M is the code for the plant which produced the vehicle (Lansing, Michigan).
The 516053 is a sequential number used by the Lansing plant. It is unique to that vehicle.
The second photo is a dealer tag. It was not installed at the factory.
The third photo is the body and style number plate.
This plate includes the style number, body number, trim number, paint number (color specification), accessories, and time built code.
ST 66-39687 is the style number (1966 + vehicle style 39687)
EUC is the body unit number prefix for the bodies built in Lansing.
TR 050 D is the trim number of the vehicle.
WW is the paint code (“Silver Mist” was the original paint, as supplied by one of three companies, DuPont, Rinshed-Mason, or Ditzler).
I do not know the accessories code or the time built code which tells when the vehicle was assembled.
The fourth photo appears to be either a part number or casting number on one of the engine parts. It looks like a casting number for an intake manifold, but I am not sure.
The fifth photo is a casting number on one of the cylinder heads.
The sixth photo is also a casting number on a cylinder head.
The seventh photo is part of the transmission. I don’t know what the number is which is shown. It may be a casting number. At another location there will be a serial number tag for the transmission. The number should start with 66 for the year followed by OJ for Toronado, followed by another number.
I am unsure of the last photo. It looks like another one for the body possibly. The 66 is probably for 1966.
As Eric said, the engine unit number will be stamped on a machined pad at the front of right side cylinder head. At the end of the number there should be a “T”. Often, these engines were painted blue.
The final drive assembly will have a ratio and date code stamped on the flange below the fill tube. AB means a 3.21:1 gear ratio. The number is a Julian date which tells the day it was manufactured.
If you are planning to keep the car, try to get a 1966 Oldsmobile Chassis Service Manual. It has a large section at the back of the manual just for the Toronado and will be very helpful.

body tag codes
Here's a bit more info.
12C at the upper left is the date code that the body was built. 3rd week of Dec. 1965.
Paint code W is silver mist on both upper and lower. (no vinyl top)
The trim code 050D is for a deluxe interior with black all vinyl bench seats.
The codes below that are all option codes but I couldn't find a breakdown on them.
