Door Question

Will a door from a '65 hardtop Cutlass interchange with a '65 convertible door? I'm assuming they will, but would like a second opinion. Thanks.

You are correct, they will interchange. The only thing to be aware of is that the convertible doors have a bolt-on wedge plate at the back edge of the door. Just transfer it to the hardtop door. You'll probably need to drill holes for it.

You will need to transfer the door glass as the hardtop and convert glass is different.

Are you sure? It's the same in other years.

Yes I am. 64 and 65 A body door glass varied between converts and hardtops. 66-72's GM A bodies shared the same door glass between converts and hardtops.

Both cars are '65 F85 Cutlasses. The guy who is interested in the door is going to replace his complete convert. door with my hardtop door. I noticed differences in the hardtop door's window mounting compared to my post car's window mounting....as well as the quarter window mounting....but I don't have a convert. to compare the hardtop to.

Window mechanisms in post cars are completely different from those in HTs or convertibles.
