Difference in Coils: U505 and E552C

Can anyone tell me what the difference is between these two coils:

AC Delco: U505 and E552C

AC Delco: U505
Amazon.com: ACDelco U505 Professional Ignition Coil: Automotive Amazon.com: ACDelco U505 Professional Ignition Coil: Automotive

and E552C.

Amazon.com: ACDelco E552C Professional Ignition Coil: Automotive Amazon.com: ACDelco E552C Professional Ignition Coil: Automotive

Both are listed on rock auto and amazon as being correct for a 1970 455,
on Summit the E552C is listed as correct., but not the U505,
on the ACDelco site the U505 is listed as correct, while the E552C is not even recommended for any Oldsmobile.

Peter, if your car is a 70 SX, the original Delco # was D-512 or GM #1115238. The original coil was embossed with the last 3 numbers "238". It's a very common coil used across GM's lines, NOS bring big $. I'm pretty sure they repro that coil, it's still pretty good $. FWIW...both my Buicks have repro coils + they have worked perfectly for years. My 442 has a (black) Pertronix coil. See...here's the thing...on an Olds you can't really see the coil or cap easily. On a Buick...it's right up front. I'll look into those ACdelco #'s. It's just food for thought........

Thanks - the 238 is the part number from the 72 catalogue. The original was the 1115216 but good luck finding those.

At any rate, while it would be nice to have a NOS 216 BR I do not think I could afford it.

What I am am really interested in is why the ACDelco U505 and E552C seem to be replacement parts for the 70 455 but there is such a discrepancy between the vendors on what is the correct part.

Is it the U505 or E552C? I would go with the U505 since that is what the ACDelco site recommends, but lacking any specs it is just a guess.
