67 Cutlass vin decoder

Hey guys, I have a 67 C/S holiday coupe (few options). still trying to decode the cowl tag. I figure to start a thread and have your guys input.

First row
1. E-2 (soft ray glass)
2. K (Air conditioning)
X (Jetaway)
G (Console)
Second Row
1. 5 ( ????)
Y (Seat Belts)
P (????)

Any help with the 5 & Y would be great.
It had SS1 rims on it when I bought it back in 1987, single exhaust, manual windows, vinyl roof

So, first thing is, despite the title of your thread, that's not the VIN, that's the cowl tag (as you apparently already know from the body of the post). A VIN decoder isn't going to help.

Cowl tags of this vintage have up to five rows of accessory codes. The 1, 2, and 5 simply refer to the rows. The code letters following them mean different things depending on which row they show up in. For row 5, the "Y" means deluxe seat belts.

A photo of the cowl tag would help a lot. Is the "E-2" really on the lower left of the cowl tag where the accessory codes are, or is it on the right, next to PNT? If the latter, that is the paint code where E = Midnight Blue and 2 = black vinyl top.

Any chance you can post the WHOLE cowl tag?

And yes, that's "E" for tinted glass and "2" to designate row 2.

yes as Joe stated a picture of the entire tag would help.

The E even though it is right next to the 2 is in the first row of what Joe had mentioned. The P is one that comes up now and then and there is some confusion as to what it represents.

So this is a Cutlass or Supreme and has a floor shifted ST300 trans and air conditioning. with deluxe seat belts. oh and black interior with bucket seats.

67C/S Cowl tag

Let me try to get back on track with the locations of the groups
going back to my original one-
1. is E-2 group 1, KXG group 2, 5YP group 4 or 5?
2. What does the 2 in E-2 mean?
3. KXG matches great
4. The "Y" matches your group 5 seat belts.

My other 67 Cutlass 2 spd column shift, bench seat with head rests, power antenna, vinyl top, numbers are
984-N
W 2XTR
5YP

Both share the "5YP"- trying to find out who else out there has the 5YP and what options do they have to help fill out/ correct when needed your very detailed list

The "X" does not work- column shift
The "T" works for power antenna
The "R" never checked ? will need to.

rambled on a bunch sorry. as always any help is a lot more than I have now, thanks Brian

Go back and read post #5.

The digits are the row number. The letters that come after the digit are in that row. The "1" for row 1 was always left off, so no leading digit = row 1

From the TINY fragment of the cowl tag that you've shared with us (is there some reason why you can't just post a photo of the entire tag?), we get:

Row 1 = E
Row 2 = K, X, and G
Row 3 = no codes
Row 4 = no codes
Row 5 = Y and P
