Windshield washer problem
Windshield washer problem
When i press the washer button in nothing happens but if touch the blue wire behind the switch to ground for a split second the washer works will the harness is still connected to the switch
Sounds like the switch is bad or dirty.
Tap the button repeatedly and see if you get a response. Spraying a contact cleaner into the switch and tapping more could help - try before replacement.
Check the connection at the switch before switch replacement, too.
I should try all this with my dead squirters, too...

And the first switch had the same issue? OMG...
How do the contacts in the switch plug look? Clean and not bent so they are making good contact? Good ground? If these are okay, it makes me wonder if the repro switches were made icky like the washer jars...

Wait they are both in the washer catagory - what's up with that??
Next step would be to pull the switch, and put an ohmmeter between the dark blue wire and the ground wire. If pushing the button does not give you a very low resistance reading (~1-2 Ohms), then it is defective.
Okay put the third switch in same problem i going to send all of them back to fusick.did the same thing like the other switches listed in this thread.Im going with a used original one.Like I said I touch the blue wire on the bottom of the switch while the plug is still connnected to the switch using a jumper to ground for a split second the washer pump cycle starts anybody have any input

Does the solenoid in the washer pump click? That is all your switch does. The solenoid within releases a plunger when you push the button, which rides an eccentric on the washer pump. This drives the pump for one revolution.
If your switch is good, there should be a click. Alternately you could check for power at the pump connector too. No power or click, bad switch or wiring.
If you have taken this off recently, make sure your pump is lined up correctly on your wiper motor housing (there is a little alignment dowel). If is is not aligned, the drive will be jammed or not work correctly (no washer pump).

Seems weird that the fault is in the switch. Is all the wiring good? Maybe there is a break in the ground wire to the motor. Is continuity on blue wire good back to the motor?
Elec man, did the old switch work? If yes, then I guess Rob is right.

what happen was I broke the old switch when removing the dash dint realize there was a screw on the side of the chrome button didnt bother testing the washer button because I had no reason too.I then touched the blue wire for a split second and then the washer cycle begins thats weird.FUSICK TOLD ME THAT THEY HAD A BAD BOUNCH OF SWITCHES HOW CAN IT BE THREE IN A ROW.

My washer motor wasn't working so i bought a new one, not sure how to line it up to go back on also the wires i pulled the two off but not sure if the yellow is on the inside towards the middle of the car or out side by fender. Is there a trick to line the pump to the wipper motor.I hear it clicking but no fluid will come out.
If I remember correctly, the blue is on the outside. If you look carefully, the terminals have locators which correspond to the female side of the plugs.
To reinstall the pump, make sure post on pump arm is slotted into the recess on the wiper motor gear. You will have to pull the pump in one direction into its final resting place against the tension in in the pump arm spring. Line small locating hole on pump housing with bump/dowel on wiper motor housing. This should do it. The screws will all go in without the above, but pump will not work.
Hope that helps.
