When did this become a thing?
Oh Brother. Starfire wheel covers and nameplates and it is a Starfire. How does it get a power drivers seat with a bench seat. With 17 bids at $3,550 I would guess there is no serious interest.
Using "Starfire clone" is not even a loose definition. Its missing the very visible brushed aluminum exterior trim for starters. No bucket seats, console and I am sure no Starfire interior panels. I see a lot missing to even call it a clone.
Not too well done.
Must say though, if my 66 Starfire ever got totaled, it had occurred to me to reuse the surviving parts on a 66 dynamic 88 convertible and make a 1 of none 66 Starfire convertible.
I seem to see lots more surviving Dynamic convertibles as compared to higher trim levels like Delta 88’s. I always figured they sold more since the Dynamics were cheaper and a consistent % survived.
Correct interior with buckets & console would be important though. In a way doing this kind of frees you from correctness. Creating a fake from a doomed basket case would rule in fun stuff like a 6 speed manual, or maybe a modern non-olds engine.
Hell, these days maybe even electrify it. But that’d put me in high $ custom territory.
I’m a pretty much an as-they-built-it guy. But it’s fun to do the thought experiment.
Kind of like an automotive in joke. Or blasphemy, depending on your position.
