Not uncommon for people who have a more-door and want a two-door. I've seen this done on a handful of 66-67 four-doors. There's also a first gen Corvair four-door that's been shortened like this that I see around here occasionally.

Personally, I always thought the '66/'67s were too big anyway.

Scot, that's an easy question to answer. Why? Because someone remembers the 'zinger' cars they grew up with. That's what this represents. Wanna see my car as a Zinger?

'Flushed' out.....

Yeah, Supergirl can make just about anything look 'cute'. Did you notice the proportions of the car to her means she would prolly fit! I think this was the precursor to 'DUMB' cars.

Wutchu think Willis?

I seen a 62 Impala that they did this to in the late 80s. I almost bought it because it had an M-22 4 speed in it.

Does anybody remember seeing the first generation of Cadillac Sevilles that were cut down to one seat roadsters. Some were lengthened in the front with fake side mounts on them. They had to take a lot of work. I wonder if there are any still around.

Glenn, they were called Seville Milan conversions and were made from 75-79
The stock Seville four door sedan was converted into a two door coupe and a two door convertible, it was stretched in the middle, stretched in the front, it had chrome added to it....

Built by:
Milan Coach Builders and Milan Convertibles, Inc.
4545 Industrial Street, Suite 5A
Simi Valley, CA 93063

Built on a 96 inch wheelbase, the Milan Roadster body measured 15.6 feet with an overall height of 58 inches. Conversion took approximately 50 hours to complete, and approximately 500 total were built during the four years the first generation Sevilles were built.

Retail cost was $39,500 and dealer cost was $29,995. A kit was available separately, that included most of the items necessary for a local craftsman to make the conversion. The kit was priced at $1,495 but it did not include everything necessary to make the conversion look the same as a "factory" Milan unit. True Milan Roadsters include a fiberglass insert behind the seats, color-coordinated to match the interior color.

Allan:

Thanks for finding that. I think the car looked really cool with the top down. Not so much with the top up. $39,500 was a lot for a car in that time period. I wonder how many are around today.

I saw that also and I loved the paint because it matches my car. I think if would have had nicer rear lines if they had used the CS quarter though.

Interesting thought, but I think that you crack the whip on that and it would twist the frame in half.

Thinking of the sleeper factor Allan? Yeah, I would have a Northstar Gremlin just to see the look on people's faces.

- Pull along side

- Throw a couple of blips

- Burn the tires for a block

- Nothing but Gremlin taillights

- Me looking in the rear-view...
