What is this?

No part # on the box and I’ve never seen this part before.

It's 1st generation distributor thermal vacuum switch. Goes in the J shaped thermostat bypass hose. Later ones went in the intake coolant crossover passage.

Good find!

Thinking deeper (yeah I know, dangerous) I think these were used only on Air Injection Reactor (smog pump) cars. California emissions in other words. But still a fantastic find for somebody doing a 1000-point restoration on a a CA-delivered car.

Joe, my 66 CSM is packed up. Does the PIM reference this part to A.I.R. system?

Pat- Nov 73 parts book references 2.410, 3015780, switch, thermo vacuum.

66-67 3400, 3600. 3800 w/400 eng and AIR;

66-67 5400, 5600, 5800, 98, Toronado w/ AIR and C.A.C. (air conditioning).

The thing was $19.90 in 1973!😬
