Wow... That sucks! Some jackass tried to steal the spare from my rubicon (lucky for me, my dog started barking and scared him off). After that all my vehicles got wheel locks. It'll at least slow them down or they'll move on to an easier target.

Yeah, it ain't NCIS - they can't press the magic button to "enhance" the crappy video and read the plate.

Sorry.

Sorry to say, no profit in it for the city. Now if the insurance was offering a finder's fee you might get their attention. Gather up all your friends and hit the pawn shops, watch the classifieds, Craigslist and ebay. Friends includes us ... If they were stupid and sloppy enough to leave tools behind ... and then come back for them ... they're not done being stupid yet. Plenty of opportunity to do your own detective work. What you do when you find them ... don't discuss.

Everyone else ... time to get your pretties etched and engraved. Insurance companies will often do it for free these days, no reason not to get it done. It won't stop the low lifes from stealing them .. but it ruins their profit.

Sorry to hear that. What type of wheels did they steal? Stock or Custom? Do you have any pics you can load?

Wow! That's great!

Unusual for the bad guys to get caught in real life.

Now lets just hope the cops did their jobs well and the DA can get convictions.

If possible, see if there's a victim services law that will let you get their mug shots to put on the wall by the shop entrance, so everybody knows what they look like.

20+ years ago had my unrestored, partly dismantled Vista stored in a friend's 'secure' warehouse in Detroit. It was in the company of BB Vettes, Packards, Cadillacs, etc.

Got a call there was a break in, my stock SSII's with nice tires were gone. Felt bad but not as bad as another friend who's 64 Vette vert he owned since new was missing too.

Shocked to hear Detroit Police FOUND the Vette?!?! It was actually recovered before it was even reported stolen. Good deal for the Vette owner.

Never got my wheels back. Friend who owned the building said they took all his tools, supplies - even his stash of t.p. They scratched/dinged the Packard next to the Vista with a jack when removing the wheels. I found my car covered with fingerprint powder.

The crooks? None other than hizhonner da Mayor Coleman A. Young's nephew.

AFAIK, they were never charged.

Man, it is so unusual to hear a happy ending to one of these stories. Glad it turned out good. How did they break the locking nuts?

Okay now that I can sit down I will some it up

The theif lived just behind the shop we believe he was after some wheels for his personal car ( his is sitting on blocks ) but got side tracked on my car . So when the came back to grab there tools we got there van on camera. We know they threw the wheels over the fence that morning. The officer checked with the apartments office for there security tapes ( witch were no help ) the maintice worker said there was a tendent that was selling wheels like that .

Detective contacted me and got pictures of them and went back they comfermed they were. Them then arrested them they told officer where they were .

The tire shop bought them but knew something wasn't right took pic of sellers and copied ID's ( bought them for a hundred bucks )
The owner gave me new wheel locks and the theif gave the officer all my lug nuts .

Six people totall charged with felony theft and two class b misdemeanour hope they all get charged equally
Happy ending
Thanks for all the support

Takes a certain kind of thief to let the shop they're selling the goods to take their pictures and IDs.

Glad that was the kind of thief you had.
