Small block identification

Small block identification


What year and cubic inch is this engine. Has #5A heads .

This carb was on the engine as well no clue as to size or year. Carter quadra jet.

Looks like a 1980 Chevrolet Qjet, is it side inlet?

I would have to check. I don't remember. And I will take a complete picture of this carb tomorrow.

Carb is 1980 Chevy / GMC truck.

3AMxxxxxx is a 1980 VIN derivative. The "A" indicates the 1980 model year, "M" naturally is Lansing. Olds made 260, 307, and 350 blocks in the 1980 model year. We need a photo of the block casting number to know which it is. The 5A heads suggest a 307, but of course they may not be original to the block.
