Simple engine cradle

I am wanted to build a simple engine transport cradle using a heavy duty pallet and some 2x4s. I just need help to determine how tall do I have to stack the 2x4s to clear the engine with an oil pan still on. At this point ordering a steel engine cradle is not a option, cause I need it by this weekend. This pic is what I wanted to make.

The timbers and 2x4's I used for my 455 with pan, measure at 9 3/4". If your pan is still on, you'll have a little trouble dealing with the dipstick tube port on the drivers side, and the oil filter mount on the passenger side.

Lay it on an old rubber tire and tie it down. Your putting way too much thought into this.
