shifter advice

hey guys.

looking to add a shifter to my car. its currently a th400 with a reverse manual valve body. I dont want to be shifting through the column so i am considering a hurst v matic 3, pro matic, or a b and m hammer shiffter.

I have a bench seat and an 8 track player so things are a little tight. the b and m hammer has a limited range of motion which is nice. The hurst shifters have more radius of motion but look like they may have more height.

any suggestions? and thanks!

Hurst Vmatic truck version or something similar. Longer arm for bench seat. Otherwise not much out there.

I've seen a lot of bench seat guys make a bracket to put the shifter above the seat base.

whoops. yes, vehicle make and pic that would help. 72 olds cutlass with b&M th400 manual reverse valve body. I leaning towards the hurst pro matic 2. but i think the 8 track will have to move.

my wife did a lot of upholstery in her day from private jets to classic/custom cars and was thinking of her notching the bench seat to allow more shifter room when she reupholsters it.
