Rallye 350

Here's a link (with the details below) of the car - let me know what you think....

http://ontario.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehi...AdIdZ355816310

Up for sale is a complete 1970 Oldsmobile Rallye 350 car. Selling an original oldsmobile 1970 OAI ram air hood, original 1970 Oldsmobile 350 motor with #6 heads and the Quadrajet #7040250 carb. Complete Hurst Dual gate shifter & console. Cutlass front lights, rear lights, front bumper, rear bumper, GM A body frame, complete drivetrain and posi rear end! EVERYTHING ! Beautifull 1970 Cutlass bucket seats. Complete dash! A beautiful mint condition 1970 Oldsmobile sport steering wheel! Mint 1970 sport mirrors! I could go on and on but rest assured that this is a complete and rare car with alot of the Hurst/Olds options and with a solid frame so if you are looking for any parts for your 1968 1969, 1970, 1971 or 1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass, F85 or Chevy Chevelle, Pontiac GTO or Lemans.. any GM A Body car.. come see me!! Parts start from $1 up to ?!

I am the third owner of the car. It has the original drivetrain which is the 310 horse high compression 350 engine and a dual gate his / hers hurst shifter. It does run and drive although it has been sitting for a year. The driver side fender had been hit but there is an original replacement fender. I have most everything for the car including an OAI ram air setup to go with the car. I may have these and many other parts in my storage shed. The windshield has a small chip in it, not sure how it happened. The ram air hood is an original hood. I will also include a new carpet and some other new parts if someone is interested in buying the car complete!

Rallye 350's are RARE cars and this car comes with some original documentation such as the original bill of sale and other documentation.

If someone is looking to buy the car complete I would take $9500 for the car plus some of the extra parts that I will include. I have clear title in my name and registered here in Ontario. Car is located in Newmarket. This car is too nice to just let sit another year in storage so either someone buys it whole or it is going to be pieced out! Interior is complete and does not require a lot of work (carpet needs replacement which I will include and seats have a few splits in the seams). Don't miss your chance to buy a rare 1970 Hurst/Olds W45 car or parts for your GM A body car !

If you are interested, please send your name and number and let me know when would be the best time to call.

If you would like to learn more about the Rallye 350, read this article:

Would consider trades for items such as iPad 2, Mac airbook, i7 laptop, pre 1967 Canadian silver coins, Olympic silver coins or silver bars.

Ted, are you thinking of adding it to your collection? Even though it will need work, the interior looks great, the body is hard to tell from just pics but it looks pretty straight and solid for a 42 yr old car. If it was local, I would seriously look at buying it. Is Newmarket close enough to go take a look? FWIW that window sticker is not likely the original - it looks like a laminated repro. (one of our members TK-65 makes those and sells them just like that one) An original should have some tearing on the edges, or at least some 2 sided tape from where it was removed. I'd also ask about any docs for the car and any mtce records. Does the 'extra parts' include the tail lights that are missing on the back and the hood tiedowns on the front?

Just based on general averages I'd say it was worth the money if this is a legit deal.

i think it may be high but if it has good documentation and has the original engine and trans it may be worth considering. a nice restored Rallye 350 don't often go above $20,000 (more like 18K) so at $9500 and needing a complete restoration you would have to think real hard if that is what you want. after restored it would be well over the 20K mark. i really like the Rallye 350s but they just don't usually bring that much money. many time an unrestored Rallye 350s value is a total of it's parts.

True enough Eric, but IMO one of the overlooked features of the Rallye 350 was the limited production and the relatively low number of survivors. As you and I both know (Ted too) cars are money pits if you let them be. This one looks really good inside. That's why I was wondering if Ted could swing by and have a look at it. Most of the panels look pretty solid, and there's not really any evidence of rust on the typical places for these old beauties.

Ted, If you decide to look at the car read this forum post first. It sounds like this is the same car and has been sitting for a lot more than a year. With that in mind there's a reason it's not selling. Price too high? Check the cowl tag too. https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...-9500-obo.html

Thanks Allan, good detective work! That is the same car. I was drawn to it because he has ads saying he is parting it out ,and the car is up too. It's the old story......I understand why, I just dislike seeing descent cars being parted out.
I am going to go and look , as the location is only 45min away-I will keep the forum posted- Ted

I would definitely take a look, if its a car you love it may be worth it but it does seem on the high side, though a good hood is worth 2500 all by itself. Just do not underestimate all the little things it will need like the taillights etc.

IMO i think this car is over priced. I seen pics i think a couple years ago, and i would think that the whole body needs to be stripped down to the bare metal. I guess if you can do ALL the body and paint yourself, it might be worth it. If you can't you will be looking at probably $7000-$10000 for a quality body and paint job. At the same time i guess it all depends on what level you would want to take the resto to. Most would probably agree with me considering how long this car has been for sale for. It is a shame that he is going to part it out tho.
