Radiator types?

Well there is no questioning that my car is a manual on the floor, but my question is wether my radiator is correct. It has automatic trans cooler fitting on the passenger side tank but I thought I read somewhere that Olds used these in all their cars, unlike Chevrolet that had specific cooler and non cooler types. If this is a wrong one I may have a radiator to sell or trade? Matt

Matt - Best to indicate what model and year car you have.

Like many questions, this is not a "Oldsmobile did this and Chevy did this" easily repeatable mantra at car shows by dudes who claim to know all.

There were years with radiators that had provisions for automatics only (which means the manual trans cars got the same and got plugged)
There were years with a specific manual (no plugs, no AT cooler) radiator, and automatic radiators.
Later, those years were often superceded by, as inventory types were reduced, to specifying an automatic radiator as now correct for that manual, so the manual one would not need to be stocked any more.

I am going to reasonably guess you have around a 1970 Cutlass or 442 that did indeed come with a no-provisions-for-automatics pure manual radiator. Tell us the car and year and engine and whether or not you have AC, and if you have a fan shroud and/or a 6 bladed clutch fan, and we may be able to say the correct radiator type.

Yup I should have learned by now to list this when questioning things , sorry. The car is a 1968 442 holiday coupe. No air no power anything. Does have a complete fan shroud and through research should have a RPO V01 HD cooling. The fan was long changed to a aftermarket 6 blade plastic flex fan. Basic holiday coupe 442. Sorry thanks Matt

My '68 442 still had it's original Harrison rad in it when I bought it in '12. The car is a factory 4spd a/c car. The pass tank did have the trans cooler in it but the inlet & outlet had screw in slotted plugs to block them off. I've seen them on lots of manual cars over the years.

Awesome thanks Rob that what I was hoping for. Unfortunately I think mine is a replacement due to no embossed numbers or letters but is a good correct looking one. Now I know I can look for either or. Matt
