Quick body/trunk question

Hey all,

I recently cleaned out the trunk of the 72....trunk pan still looks decent, not perfect though, but anyway, on to my question....it appears that there is some type of sealant (black) between the trunk pan and the wheel wells....it has dried and cracked and come out. Can you guys tell me if this is just a reular type of caulk that you would buy at the hardware store, or is this some other type of sealant? Hopefully you guys know what I'm referring to, if not, I can snap a pic. Any ideas? Thx in advance.

Kevin,
take out the cracked and dried up material. It is factory seam sealer that is used to keep the trunk weather tight. It can be easily replaced. Here's a link to Eastwoods with the product you need. I'd go with the brushable kind myself. It's not pricey and anyone who can paint a fence half decent can reseal the areas in the trunk. http://www.eastwood.com/autobody/seam-sealer.html

Great....thank you for the quick reply Allan. I just wasn't sure what exactly it was. Thanks again! Oh, and also, the trunk pan itself has lost a lot of the factory coating on the inside. Was thinking about getting that spray-on truck bed liner stuff put in there, or how would you guys do it?
