Questions about tissue dispenser 🤔

How do I open this and where can I get a mounting bracket?

Thanks 😊

You squeeze the sides in and those metal tabs retract enough for the top to come off. It has a molded boss with 3 holes that I think you just screw to lower dash. It's supposed to be opening down, as seen by the rocket emblem orientation.

Gotcha...would this be a correct accessory for a '72 Supreme? And any leads on a bracket?

I think it doesn't get one, bud. Flip it over and see if there's a flat spot with three holes. Yes, I think it could be considered correct for a 72 Supreme. There was the tissue box, then the trash box, then the combined one of both; so, at least 3 types.

It was a dealer installed accessory for any Oldsmobile. They were not factory installed.

Would that be part #983191 or 983009?

The number just got superseded. My Sept 1968 parts book shows 983009. This page is from the Jan 1972 edition.

As always, thanks Joe. Does it mount under the glove box?

It mounts wherever you want to put it. This wasn't something that was factory engineered with detailed installation drawings. It's an aftermarket add-on that the dealer network sold. It just screws to the metal bottom of the dash. If you put it right under the glovebox, it will probably be a knee-knocker for the passenger.

Good point. I'll have to do some test fitting 😀
Is there a separate part number for the trash bin?

These definitely came with a bracket, The piece with 3 holes is the bracket. The dispenser slid in and out of the bracket to service it. Nobody sells the bracket, and it would be difficult to make a nice one.

Here is an instruction sheet but for the full size cars but it gives you the idea.

That would probably work nicely, Norm. I would never have thought you could find something close already made.
