Police car

I bought this 1998 Chev that used to a SheriffS" car. A little 3.8L, dual piston calipers and Riccaro front seats. I thought it was kinda cool and is in pretty good shape. Thought I would share....All I really like are the antennae on the trunk

Yours looks like a true pursuit car. Mine apparently was a Sheriffs car that was not involved in actual chases....he would take it home at night and show up to scenes with .........does this sound correct?

That is very likely if its from a small town. My car came out of Santa Clara county in California, its a 96 but wasn't released from duty until 2014 with only 96,000 miles. I think someone there hid that car and used it as their own but no way to know for sure.

My neighbor was an investigator with the police. He would drive something like this. Not necessarily a pursuit vehicle but a driver to get to the different crime scenes. He used to buy them when they went for auction and gave them to his kids to drive because they were maintained good and, he was the only person that drove it.

Montreal bought a bunch of Luminas to serve as patrol cars. None of them were ever used as the cop union complained the seats weren't comfortable enough.

No notch in the door for a spotlight, so obviously not a regular patrol unit. Even the unmarked units usually got a driver side spot. Yours was probably used by either "brass" or detectives/investigators.
My old Chief had a gorgeous light blue '94 Caprice 9C1 like that. He stopped at an accident scene once to help out and a kid in a g-body Cutlass rear-ended it so hard that the trunk was in the back seat Luckily he wasn't in it at the time. It was a sad sight while it sat outside the maintenance garage waiting for the insurance adjuster.

I thinks thats the case with mine but 10 years ago I had an ex-Texas DPS (Highway Patrol) unmarked car set up the same way, no spots, cloth seats and full carpeting. The only difference was that one had been repainted to hide the black and white and it had a lot more electrical stuff removed before it was auctioned.

The PO of my car said that is the reason there are Riccaro seats in it.The Sheriff had requested them....

Did they have red lights on the backside of the trunk?
