Need help in decoding a body tag

1968 Cutlass Supreme as follows:

018

ST 68 - 34287 FRA46563 BODY

TR 987 - G-6 PAINT

I can figure a lot of this out.

Supposed to be Willow Gold with white interior and a white vinyl top. Just want to make sure that is how it was built.

Thanks in advance.

I believe your 018 should be 01B - take a closer look. That's the time build code when the car body was welded together and the interior trim installed at Fisher body works in Framingham. That was all completed in about 3=4 days before the shell was ever sent to the Framingham Olds Assembly line.
01 is the code for January. B is the code for second week. So that means your car started its life in the second week of January, 1968.

ST 68 - Yup; 68 model year. They did this because a little over half the cars produced for the model year were built the previous year. That's how the retooling and changeover worked back then.

3 - Oldsmobile Division of GM
42 - Model; Cutlass Supreme
87 - Body Style - Holiday Coupe
FRA - Framingham Fisher Body Works
BDY 46563 - body number assigned to the car by Fisher. Unique to the car and not associated with VIN.
TRM 987 - All Vinyl notch bench seat in Parchment.

Olds code for white vinyl was always 1, or A starting in 1969. Olds did not offer white as a vinyl top color in 1968

G is for Willow Gold; 6 is the original vinyl top color which was parchment.

Olds did not offer white as a vinyl top in 68 okay, is parchment not a shade of white? And if in fact that is true despite the shade discrepancy then Olds did offer white in 68 called Parchment.

Just going by the official information in the Assembly Manual. You can call it whatever you want, but the proper description of code 6 is parchment. And FWIW no, I don't believe parchment is a shade of white. It's more a light shade of beige.

Indulge me, please:

Back in about 1974, I was sitting in a friends '69 Cutlass S at a Steak 'N Shake and he asked what color I thought his interior was. I said "White". He said, "No, it's Antique". A few weeks later we were at another location, sitting in my '68 Cutlass Supreme. I asked him what color he thought my interior was. He said "Black". I said "No, it's Ebony".

I really miss being young.
