It's painted!
It's painted!
We tore our Cutlass apart the third week of March last year to fix body damage and re-paint. My body guy has a regular job and has been workin on it part time nights and weekends to whip it back into shape. Keep in mind when we bought it, a shed had fallen on the roof and put a nasty crease in the rh door. We thought the roof was going to need re-skinned when we bought it, but after 10 hours with a stud welder, hammer and dollie, he got it straight.. said it was the worst he'd ever done. The color is Baroque Gold ( looks darker in person). Stripes are painted on and buried in clear. No stencil kit was used, just a fender from a 70 w-30 for reference (thanks Brian!) and drawings from wild about cars. I can't wait to get it back and start nailing it back together!

Thanks guys! It's been a long process, but well worth it. We've taken pics of the whole process along the way. The before and after of the roof and door are amazing. The engine will be next.. it's a 350 loosely based on a w-31. I'm thinkin it'll look pretty mean with black 442 grilles, and some wide steelies in the back with dog dish caps.
Lookin' good. I'm a 350 SBO guy myself, so I can't wait to hear more about your drivetrain. I'd say do the grills to look like a W-31, and with the grill, stripes, and hood, oh yea and a couple of emblems you will have a W-31ish build.
I am a Cragar SS guy, but I do have steelies and dog-dish, but have never tried them. On some cars, maybe yours, they are a definite hit.
Great job and keep up the good work!!!
