Hot or cold???

This started up in another thread and it has made me kinda curious on a slow day at work, so I gave it a thread of it's own.

Would you rather have to work on your olds when it's cold or boiling hot outside?

Personally, I don't mind the cold. Portable heaters are cheap. But I find it awfully hard to work on my cutlass when sweat is pouring down my face.

I prefer hot, I can't function in the cold.

Spoken like a true Texan. I should know, I've been married to one for over 20 years. When it get below 50 outside, she acts like we are in deepest Antarctica.

My work comfort range is probably between about 40° and 85°.

I can go higher or lower if I HAVE to, but I'd rather not.
Up to 90° and down to 30-ish, I'm pretty good, but then it starts getting annoying.

I've laid under the car in weather as cold as -6°F, and that requires warm clothes and frequent trips back inside to warm up.

As I get older, the arthritis in my fingers prevents them from moving in the cold.

I really hate smacking my hand on something from a slipped wrench in the cold...it just really sucks, then of course the bleeding starts when you get inside and start to thaw.

But I'm from the Northeast. I have the same problem as Joe, the arthritis kicks in and I don't have the motion that I would have when it's warm.

Obviously any temperature extreme makes it not so pleasant, but if I had to pick it would be the hot. I'd rather sweat then freeze, and believe me I've done both recently. At least when it's hot I can open the garage door and get some natural lighting and fresh air. Plus, fans are cheaper then heaters! Just have a couple towels and water with you and your good to go, without having to bundle up.

I can work in almost anything as I work outside as a contractor. My car on the other hand, I prefer 45-75. If it's cold, I just crank the pellet stove. If it's hot, I don't bother.

Neither.
Will not do it in the cold for reasons mentioned above.
Doing it while hot of okay, but not Texas hot (85-110+).
I remember the time I did my engine bay and it was torture - 109 was common and the garage was a cool 98! Of course when i started I did not know it would have been a record setter.
Of course when it is actually NICE here, i prefer to be out driving. This is while the rest of Lady's resto is not happening...
Best temps for me is between 55-92.

Around 70 degrees is ideal for me, but I can do hot much better than cold.
When I was visiting my buddy in Llano, Texas I laid turf for him and painted and fixed some of his fencing when it was in the 90s, his Mexican workers had retreated to find shade and my girlfriend heard them saying "El Gringo es loco".
I can do cold, but cold and damp is hard for me. Perhaps I should move to somewhere hot.

Roger.
