Heater core differences

So I’ve finally got my leaky heater core out, and noticed there appears to be a restriction on one tube of the original core. The new copper/brass one does not have this. Should I be concerned?

A restriction somewhere in the heater core inlet is required. On AC cars the restriction is in the base of the heater control valve, and on non-AC cars the restriction is in the hose nipple that screws into the intake manifold. If your car has either of the above, then the restricted heater core inlet pipe is not required. If you don’t have either of those, you can make your own restrictor.

edit:
Where did you find a copper brass heater core? Most are aluminum these days.

Ok I’ll check the plug on the intake. Would the factory have put 2 restrictions on the same car? IE could a car have one on the intake AND the core inlet?

And summit has the copper/brass cores now.
