Headers

Any make and model and car, general question. Put a laser temp guage on your headers, what kind of temp you get and what kind of temps should you see after idling for 10-15 minutes. Just curious, mine was reading around 290 and about 190 further down the pimp. Just curious if this is too hot or normal. Running a 455 Stroker, edlebrock headers

I would have expected the temperature to be much higher than that. Exhaust gas temperature is around 1000ºF.

Here's some info from the web that says the temperature at idle is irrelevant:

Excellent article, thank you. Ran around the block couple times like I stole it. Checked again, and headers were way up in the 3-400 ranges. Learnt something today. Thank you sir.
