Good idea for optimizing shop space

My wife made fun of me but I thought I would share what I just did anyway. I have a decent size garage but it still small for the junk I have in it about 890 sq ft . I have been collecting fabrication machinery and equipment over the last couple years and now it's time to set it all up.

I spent some time taking accurate measurements of the shop, lift and every shelf and piece of equipment I have. I then went inside and on poster board draw a scale drawing of the garage and lift. Now hear comes the part my wife was laughing at. I drew a car to scale and made squares and rectangles to scale of floor space needed for each item. I lables all the shapes and set inside the shop. I moved things around 4-5 times to get the best possible use of my space.

Moving around a piece of paper sure beat moving a 2500 lb press brake 4 times

Thats the way the pro's do it, so now you must be a pro. My garage is so small I have everything on wheels and move things as needed to the carport when working. Pain in the ***

Interior designer

That's the way Interior designers do it. There's a scale template with chairs, sofas, coffee tables, etc. They just put in on a piece of graph paper and schuffle it around.

Sorry, I've not seen a scale template for a Cutlass. Try about 2 full length sofas side by side Any art supply place will have them.

If ya need any Mayo jars, I've got a plethora

That's exactly what we do when scouting out possible locations for new body shops if we're not sure we can make the layout of the building work.
