Found my Build Sheet
I located the build sheet on top of the gas tank of my 72 Cutlass. It was in great condition after 42 years.. I'm going to clean it up and put it in a frame...
Note that the car was built at the Arlington, Texas plant. This is consistent with the history of build sheets and how, if one is found, it's in a car not built at Lansing, which was famous for not leaving them in the car.
The trim tag decodes as a 1972 Cutlass 2-door hardtop built the third week of April 1972 at the Arlington plant, Viking Blue lower color, white vinyl top, and white vinyl bench seat.
I notice from the photo under your username that the car does not have a white vinyl top. I see the build sheet does say "vinyl top" in the second column, so I assume it had one originally.

That's where mine was built, Arlington, TX. Wonder if my build sheet is on top of the tank as well?
Your car came from Lokey Olds!
I remember that place from when I was a teenager living in Dunedin. I used to cruise Clearwater Beach on the weekends and my buddies would all meet up at the Steak-N-Shake on Gulf-to-Bay Blvd. My Omega was brand-new then.

Yes the car was apparently had a vinyl roof, because someone did not do a very good job where the molding was removed near the rear quarter panels... You can see the bondo coming through the paint..

Remember, build sheets were for the use of the assembly line people and were never meant to be part of what's delivered to the customer. Lansing was reputedly very strict in making sure that build sheets were not left behind, while other plants were more lax about this.
If you find a build sheet in your 72 and it's from Lansing? You'll be the first absolute Build Sheet hero of this and many other Olds forums. Don't get broadcast cards mixed up with Build sheets. Broadcast cards in Lansing cars are very common, and they were left in the car by the Lansing FISHER Body Works, not the Assembly line folks. Big difference.
