Found 442 without VIN !

I found my 1973 442 without having the VIN. She had been gone for 20 years. A private investigator found her in under an hour!

We will be reunited later this month!

When you get it, post some pictures. Does it run? Did the previous owner take good care of it or will you need to do a major restoration? I'm guessing your car stayed in your local area to be found that quickly!

last summer i found my old 65 442 i sold back in about 92 or 93.i had heard the guy went to jail.and i figured beings it didn't have an engine he probably never registered it in him name.went to the court house and told em my story, the lady there said i had something like 40 vin's in my name, which alot got junked just never told them.so i told her it would only be a 13 character vin.and start with 3.2 days later she calls me and says she found it but by law could not give me the name,BUT if i wanted to give her my number she would pass it on to him.so i did.well about a month later he calls me.same guy has it and he did not go to prison, said it had sat in storage ever since, but he lost his storage and had to keep it at his house in town, well the cops stopped and said he needed to register it or move it so he registered it.if he wouldn't have done that i never would have found itbut sadly he didn't want to sell it back to me.

Wow, that is ridiculous, sounds like it is just rotting away without any use. What a waste, probably a hoarder.

I'd be interested in knowing more about this process, and the cost.

Great news that you were able to find your old car! You must post pics when you see her again!
