Factory eight track

I picked up another Cutlass last week. I needed it like I need another hole in the head. But I got it anyway. The seller turned on the AM/FM sterio and it worked. So I had to have it. The car also came with the factory eight track player. I pulled everything from the car today, including the wiring harness for the radio and the below dash vents for the A/C. I can't see any damage, although it needs a really good cleaning. I'll also have to dye the plastic to match the interior of the 442.

I need information on how best to go about getting these things ready for installation into the 442.
Who rebuild the radios?
Who rebiulds the eight track players?
What are these things worth?
Is it really worth the effort? or should I just go with a really cool after market sterio system.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

There is a member or two here that repairs or at least refurbishes the underdash 8T units. do some searching and I bet you can find them.
A working stereo and 8T can easily sell for several hundreds.

If you want the nostalgia and eye-openers, keep the factory system. If you want to crank it up on the highway, you will want an aftermarket. However you can have both if you choose!

These guys did my radio and 8-track, replaced the radio internals with new AM/FM components and added an Auxiliary input for an iPOD. I was happy with the work. I can't remember the total on the radio but the 8-track was about 80-100 bucks.

I believe there is also an member on here that will rebuild the 8-tracks.

Nice score!
Send Randy a PM He goes by 70442 on this site. He rebuilds/services and produces the case these units are bolted into the car with. He fixed my case and was really fair in his pricing and turnaround time.
