Engine swap

Hello from Wonderful Winter Wonderland, I have a 1986 GMC half ton pic-up with the a Chevy 350 and Turbo 400. The motor needs a rebuild. Being a Olds guy I have a good running 1975 Olds 350 out of a rusted 88. Has anyone ever done a olds motor swap from a chevy? Thanks.

I don't have any specifics, but I've seen a number of earlier Chevy/GMC pickups with Olds 455s installed. I've seen it enough times to think that it might be a feasible swap.

Good luck on the project.

Yeah, GM did it when they put the Olds diesel in these trucks. Get the diesel frame mounts and any Olds motor drops right in.

Motor swap

Thanks for your input Joe! Other than motor mounts do you think all the wiring and linkage will hook up?

All the linkages will be fine, just need to adjust accordingly. Minor wiring changes for starter and accessories that move from one side to the other. Use all the brackets from the engine your installing.
