engine code not vin #

Thumbs up engine code not vin #

my vin # is 3j67m2m239379. i know what all the digits stand for .my qustion is about the engine in my 72 cutless convertable.the car needs alot of work .ac,top work,interia and pain/body work. iam looking foward to this.the engine runs/sounds great with a cam .my front block # 395558 2.my exhaust manifold gmy380001lh.fisher body tag st 72 34267 lan 508757 56 b a 51 . i believe this car has 350 4bbl carb 200hp duel exhaust..can any body decifer this engine.thanks john

As you correctly note, the VIN indicates that the original engine was a 350 4bbl dual exhaust Code M. The block casting number is a 350 block. Nothing else you've posted contains any info on the engine (nor will it). You can look for the VIN derivative on the block below the No. 1 spark plug, which will tell you if it's the original block or not.

By the way, unless your two exhaust pipes are shooting at each other, it's DUAL exhaust, not DUEL exhaust.

thanks for the information on the vin derivative below the #1 spark plug.I can't seem to see it .i will look at it when i either get it off the ground or work on the ac. ps thanks for the spelling check.its never been my strong point. have a good day.john
