I am restoring a 1971 Cutlass Supreme Convertible at first non of my belts lined up. Doing research and through OCA found out I had the wrong water pump. After changing water pump the power steering & alternator belts lined up but not the compressor. The A/C compressor is about a 1/4" to far out from engine, all brackets and mounting follow the assembly manual and my before pictures. I took my compressor to the parts store and compared pulley location to 2 new compressors and they were all the same. My pulley measures 2" from flat mount plate to center of pulley, how can I fix, is there a different compressor or pully clutch that will fix

They lined up from the factory, so how about more info (engine, water pump, pulley numbers) and a couple of photos. It's hard to provide useful suggestions from the meager info you've provided.

 

Yeah lots of land mines there. Joe is right, but if you have the factory assembly manual, it has all the right configurations with nice little diagrams and pulley codes.

 

This is from my 69, so I'm not sure if it's exact. This all assumes you have the right water pump.
