Classic Tyre size combo

This has been niggling me for a while now.
When i bought my tyres, I pretty much just went for the cheapest set i could find as the classic 3/4 inch whitewalls are VERY expensive over here.
I opted for a common set of standard limousine tyres, all 4 sized at 205/70/15.

Upon reflection, the rear of my car is WAY too wide compared to these treads and my wheels now look like tiny sparrows feet.

The front 2 are fine this way as it kind of looks like a narrowed front end with the lowered springs, however i'm going to change the back 2.

I've been looking a photo's of other 88's from a similar period to mine and their boots seem to look so much more proportional to the size of the car.

I've found a company here that will supply the following sizes with a whitewall that will match my fronts:

215/70/15
225/70/15
235/70/15

My car is a 65 Delta 88. What in your opinion and experience would be the best size to opt for, keeping in mind I want the car to fit somewhere into the 60's california custom style...?

60's look

Well I would probably opt for the 235's to give it the look you are looking for. it should not be a problem for the car , though you can't see the back end from the avatar.

Also, it doesn't help that the wheels haven't got much offset so the space under the arch is HUGE. They could probably do with some spacers as well...

i'll take a picture when i get home ;-)

I would go with the 225/70/15. I used the 235/75R/15 on my 57 which is a big car. The tires look to fat.

Yea, she does look a little chik'n legged with the 205s...

X2... I think that is pretty close to the original diameter, too.
Here is a great little conversion chart:

Tiny Sparrows feet...

I know the Cutlass rear track isn't as wide as the front and it makes it look funny, not much but just enough. I wonder if those are the same?
Those tires are thin but still look wider than stock, may be a little short with that aspect ratio?

I would pick up a set of some chrome reverse wheels myself.
I like those and Cragar S/S wheels, not much else, I'm a 60's kid.
Chrome reverse would be pure 60's California custom and make the track wider depending on the offset. Chrome Baby Moon hubcaps naturally, whitewalls would really look slick.
Curb feelers with lighted tips, on both sides of the car of course.
They would probably "feel" both curbs going down a lot of the streets over there in that behemoth-like leviathan of the road.

yeah i've kept the old steels just in case I want to reverse the rims but I think the original 14's may be a bit too short now as i've lowered it quite a bit. I've always got one eye on ebay for a set of 15" reversed....

I had big trouble trying to find any kind of wheels over here in 5x5 and when these mags came up i jumped at the chance. So far i've been told they are 70's Jap Magnum copies, possibly Allied, but can't find any info on them?? Not quite 60's Cal but they do look pretty sweet and unique!

The other option would be the Astro Supremes i suppose. I think they come with reversed as an option?

Curb feelers.... now that's a good idea!
