Cool am/fm Radio

Did the 1966 442 come with an AM/FM radio as an option? The 66 442 I am restoring came with one.

No it did not. 1967 was the first year it was available for the Olds A body series.

Check the Facts and Features Manual for the 1966 Olds Cutlass - 442 F85 and you will find that there are four transistiorized radios offered for this year and two of them are AM-FM radios.
I got this book from Fusick's.

On the other hand the Owner's Manual which I have for my car(not the one that came with the car) only shows a Deluxe Radio. However I would hope that Fusick's have their stuff straight. The Facts and Features Manual that I have is published by 1987 Jim Osborn Reproductions.

I have a run of 1966 Olds parts and accessories catalogs with effective dates of Aug. 65, Oct 65, Dec 65, Feb 66, Apr 66 and June 66. Only listing for AMFM radios are for the 88/98/Starfire series(#982690) and Toronado(982697).

No AMFM for A body Olds.

In addition to the Olds P&A catalogs for the 66 Olds model year I have the Dealer showroom Oldsmobile Product Selling Manual which also list AmFM as exclusive to 88/98/Starfire and Toronado.

The showroom brochure and the option sheets only show the Deluxe radio available.
There wasn't much on FM in '66?
Classical and opera, was about it, if you were lucky to even have a local FM station.
Then the FM progressive rock came on the scene the late 60's...man.
In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida played straight through ain't the greatest cruising tune.

Thanks Henry. I'll mention this to Fusick's when I am talking to them because this literature is obviously wrong.

inna gada da vida heard a story on the radio, and it said that the original name of the song was "in a garden of eden" but the lead singer was so messed up he slurred his words and the rest is history!!
