AC brackets
AC brackets
Hey guys, I'm going to order an air conditioning kit online to add to my 307 powered 77 Cutlass. Has anyone made their own compressor brackets? I'm a bit confused by the ones I see online they don't look like they would work. I also herd i may need to move the alternator to the other side, which seems as though that would require another bracket i cant find... I would be happy to make some, but i don't know what an original looks like installed so i cant copy it. Any suggestions you guys have would be much appreciated! Thanks All!
What does your A/C kit supplier say about compressor options? I’m betting you need to source your own pulleys to make everything work.
Vintage air offers compressor mounting kits for both sides of Oldsmobile engines. They also outline what pump to use, what pulley code, and suggested belt size.
Seeing how factory water pumps are higher capacity for A/C equipped cars, in my opinion it would be worth it to install the A/C correct components. Besides, Oldsmobile engines just don’t look right with the A/C compressor on the drivers side. That’s a Brand “X” (chevy) thing.

Hey guys, so vintage air doesn't support the 73-77 Cutlass. Its a shame cause i would have ordered a kit from them if possible to keep it simple. I did find the driver side bracket on their site, and I'm going to order that. As for the actual air conditioning system, i plan to order a more generic kit that comes with a Sanden compressor. There are many of these kits online, and most come with an evaporator. Id like to find one that has topside outlets to allow me to rout the air through the existing dash vents. Some of them say they are for ducted vents, but still seem to discharge air through the front of the unit. To me, this seems like it would be a visual mess under the dash, and i don't want that. Vintage air has them, but the price is rather high for just the evaporator. Ill go that route if that's the only way to do it cleanly, but the generic, complete kits cost the same as just the evaporator from vintage air does. Has anyone used a cheaper all inclusive kit from amazon, or ebay and been happy with the final install? Thanks guys!
