84 Cutlass Supreme

I hope this is the right forum to post this. I did a search on the site but didn't really find anything. On my way home today I saw an 84 Supreme on a small local lot. I was in a big hurry but on first look, it looked pretty nice. When I get the chance to look at it better, is there anything in particular I should look for or at with this model? I don't know what I would do with it or if I am interested at all, but it did really catch my eye.

I know these are little things to worry about...doors tend to get a crack on top by the sideview mirrors. If this is the case, when you have the windows down at high speeds and try to close the windows, they do not seal tight. For some odd reason my car had rusted through on a seam on the rear quarters - next to the tail lights and under the trunk lid when closed (water ran into trunk when it rained). This might have happened because I parked the car facing down hill and water pooled up on the seam until it rusted through.

Also, depending on what engine the car has, the V6 engine has very little power. If you are doing just city driving you will be OK.

X2 on the 260 V6. It's probably good with today's gas prices though.

84 CS is a very stylish car. Some of them had issues with rustout on the door seams, also look for corrosion on the rear quarter over the wheel, and the rear deck lid (inside seams).

If you have the option, it would be good to have it inspected to find out exactly what shape it's in. You can really work with this car to transplant an engine, put on a cowl hood like the 442s of 83/84 and add a rear deck lid spoiler. They were amazingly nice riding cars, and very solid. Shouldn't have too much trouble finding trim or parts if needed, they made oodles of these cars.

Post some pics when you get a chance.
