72 cutlass convertible advice

I am redoing the engine and transmission in my 72 convertible (350 rocket and th350 tranny) and was thinking maybe should I upgrade to 300 hp and a 2004r tranny (be nice to get better mileage for planned trips and occasionally make a small amount of noise and smoke ;-} what would be a good street rear end ratio for this to be a good driver on the highway and around town. I plan to go to 15" wheels and disc brake conversion in the back.

(pump gas by the way)

I am soon to buy parts for this and would appreciate comments and advice. thanks so much to all of you.

3.90's with a 2004r, or 3.42's with a TH350.
