Well, both have issues. The 70 is pretty rusty and in places that are hard to get part for. It isn't a Sport Coupe, either. The 72 isn't a "Factory A/C" car as claimed. Both seem overpriced for the condition.

They do have issues thats for sure!
But picking's are slim these day's. with all these auction's going on "enough said on that"
the 70 is still the desirable body style just alot of rust.
the 72 i know is not an AC car, i could car less about the AC in an old car, spotted that right away.
still could be a nice driver i think especially if it has a 70 motor.
thanks for the opinion JOE it helps!

The '72 has been discussed at length on a Facebook thread. Highly doubt there are any docs with it to authenticate its provenance. 455 is a transplant as he says it's a K-Code, which is a 350 2BBL. To me its a nice cruiser but not worth restoring.

I think the 70 isn't bad for $10K but unfortunately its Reserve not met. Who knows what he wants for it.

I did already talk to him and I know the other ones a driver not worth restoring I just went and looked at it it's a Rotted mess covered with Bondo unk junk junk
he came right down to 7500 still not cheap enough for a daily driver maybe $6000 I'll pass going to keep an eye on the 70 at least I could see the rust

Johnny are you saying you viewed both cars and the 72 is a rot box? That 72 would be gold in the salt belt. You're likely used to looking at a desert dry car which neither car is...but if either could be had for $7500-8500 that'd be a great start or introduction for someone on a budget...Of course, we can not see the trunk pan, floor pan, frame, dash, door seams etc on the 72....like you did. How is all of that? Trunk and its lid is shot on the 70.
Both look like restorable cars if the major structures aren't rotted. Sheet metal is one thing, Frames, cowls, inners, etc is whole nuther game. IG Parts cars.

If ever there's a place where you need AC, it's Phoenix!

I did not look at the 70 but yes the 72 frame floors were all good he said he would take 7500 today only it was a good starter car for somebody but I wasn't looking for that I was hoping for something more than it was and yes it's pretty funny I don't care about air-conditioning because I don't believe in them in older cars they never work well
and it just doesn't seem the same having AC on in my muscle car to each his own

Well, I've done my share of sweating it out in a car without AC when it's 115 degrees and I'm sitting still in traffic on a blacktop road with the brutally intense summer sun baking me and the breeze feels like it's coming out of a blast furnace. I am very thankful for the air conditioning in my older car. But as you said, to each his own.

We can debate all night long but I think it Just takes away from the performance of the car and that's why we drive these old cars don't we?
For performance

For performance, there's this slider switch on the dash that turns the AC off.

Does that switch remove the compressor lines and evaporator also?

If ever there was a place you need a newer car with A/C that really works and an old car without it Phoenix is the place. I have a few 442 cars with A/C and at 115 it just won't keep up on its best day let alone after 47 years.

I prefer my cars without it.

Obviously not, but it removes the parasitic power drain from the engine.
The compressor lines and evaporator weigh less than a few gallons of gas, so to compensate just don't fill up all the way. 5 gallons of gas = 30 pounds.

Fred, you have so many cars to choose from I'm sure there's one for every driving condition a person could encounter.
