69 442 Alternator

Every 69 442 I have seen has had a built in regulator, were there any built with a firewall mounted regulator?
I have a numbers correct 69 442 alternator but it has the regulator style of connector?
Did the 442 alternator share the same numbers with other models?
Could the alternator have been rebuilt using the back half form the standard alternator?
68 production run of 69 442's ?
Thanks
Bernhard

The '69 4-4-2 model series got the internal regulator alternator, 1100853 (37 amp) or 1100852 (55 amp), depending upon if that 4-4-2 had the air conditioning or heavy duty cooling option (852) or not (853). All other "A" body types in '69 (F85, Cutlass, Vista Cruiser) got the external voltage regulator alternator, 1100777 (55 amp) for the air conditioned or heavy duty cooling options, and 1100767 (37 amp) for those cars without. I doubt there would have been a "half-n-half" alternator built for early production '69 4-4-2 series cars. It's more likely someone rebuilt your alternator from a bunch of spare parts.
