Well, been making progress. Got most everything done except the heater core. Not really looking forward to that one. Got the fender replaced and painted. Came out ok. Fit is adequate for a driver. However, if I'd of not bent it I wouldn't be discussing this.

I've added some pics of it bent and after the work. I also changed from the POS Holley to a Edelbrock spread bore / Q-jet replacement. Bolted on and fit very well. Had a problem with the secondaries not kicking in. So, I disconnected the throttle cable. stretched it out, made a mark and "repositioned" the attaching point. They work fine now. Guess after 45 years those cables have some stretch in them---lol

I changed the water pump today and used some generic paint on it. Was the closest I could find to the factory stuff. Kind of light for bronze but closer than the gold the engine had been painted.

Thanks for the compliments guys. It was originaly Crimson with white stripes. One of the previous owners painted it this way. The color is actually '78 'vette, code 82. It's called Mahogany. That's beyond me as I've never seen a maroon Mahogany.

I also discovered why GM used 2.25" exhaust pipes and 2" tailpipes. I had 2.5 run from front to back. Not much room for it. Especially by the starter and over the axles.

Got the heater box back in ok. Not much fun trying to line up the studs and heater core tubes.---lol It does work well though and very nice to not have fog on the windows when it's partly warm out. Also been playing with the a/c trying to make it work properly. That's in another thread though. I've attached pics of the heater cores. The left one is what I put in, middle is the original and right is one From The Parts Place which I should of returned. The other pic is the tag on the bottom of the front carpet. I think that makes it the original carpet.

Found it on ebay though Heartbeat City in MI. Plrimarily a Camaro place. The core wa made by Vista-Pro and is a good solid unit.
