Kinda hard to shift without a clutch pedal. Seller doesnt know the term three on the tree isnt a column shift auto.

If it had an auto console shifter it would be a "three on the knee".

A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.

All the literature I have shows the base 442 trans that year as the HD three speed manual with floor shifter (even with the optional bench seat). The four speed Muncie and the TH400 were the only trans options on the 442. Three on the tree with a Saginaw was the base trans on lesser Cutlii, but not on the 442. The HD 3 speed was the Dearborn trans supplied by Ford. I find it hard to believe that someone would go through all the trouble to special order a three speed column shift in a 442.

"Anything was possible" was simple not true when it came to factory offerings. What dealers could, and would, do is considerably more. But even then, "anything was possible" is an absolute that still isn't true, and thus meaningless but still misused statement.

I e-mailed him and it is an auto on the column. says he is firm on the price. In this economy it may be on the market for a while.
I had never seen a '69 auto on the column, but have seen a few '71/'72's that way.

When you ordered the optional TH400 on the 442 in 1969, the default was a column shifter, even if you had bucket seats. The console and floor shifter were extra cost options in addition to the cost of the AT.

I had an original 69 W-30 with a column shifted 400. I thought it was odd even then. That was 1989, 1990. Sold it in '92, ARGH!
