65 442 value
I am always watching ebay for cars for sale and happened to see this one;
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1965-OLDS-44...vip=true&rt=nc
I don't think I've ever seen a 65 442 bid up this high and it did not even hit reserve - I see it is "all original" but really don't see anything that special about it unless I'm missing something
my question is this, I have a 65 442 that I purchased from the original owner - I restored it, however, I changed the color, converted it to a 4 speed and mildly modified the engine - did I screw myself out of $12-15 k of value on the car? - here is a picture

Here is a link to the 65 442s I've seen posted with their asking price. Looks like the average is around 15k, but that is of course depending on conduction. Graph shows when they were posted along with a thumbnail of the car plotted. You can also click on the plot to see their original post. It looks like there were some nice ones in the 12k - 15k mark.

Personally, I'd rather have 2 good, fun driving cars then 1 great car I'm too scared to drive.

What you are missing is that ASKING price is not a measure of value. If the auction did not meet reserve, any number is meaningless. For all we know, the seller had shills submitting bids under the reserve price. No cash changed hands, so that auction is irrelevant. Ignore it.

You are fine !
Yammiman , if I was going to buy either one ( Yours or the ebay dudes )
I just simply like yours better .
It also appears that yours looks cleaner than this rotisserie , frame off body
car listed on ebay . That is just external 15 ' view from your 1 image .
In my opinion , the underside and engine compartment images left me feeling that this seller was really proud of this car . There are many examples of nicer cars than this selling for less .
I agree with Joe P's idea that this guy was bidding this 442 up , just to smoke out potential real bidders , then re marketing the car after his auction ended . My , .02 . JT

Thanks Guys - didn't even think about fake biddders - that makes sense - I'm sure when the time comes mine will bring a respectable price - Joe, I don't see a 65 442 in your collection list!! LOL
