442/supreme

I have been around Oldsmobiles most of my life, but before I pit my size 11 dutch foot in my mouth, can someone settle 2 arguments ? Was there still an F85 in 1972? And did they ever make a 442 in the Supreme body style 70-72? Thanks!

All 1970-1972 442 convertibles were built on the Supreme platform, but there were no 442s/W-29s built on the 70-72 Supreme notchback hardtop bodystyle. Fastbacks and convertibles only.

Yes, there was an 1972 F-85 but it was a four door "town sedan" only. There were Cutlass post coupes though in 1972.

According to wiki, the answer is yes to both questions.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oldsmobile_Cutlass

1st
The new 1972 Hurst/Olds used the Cutlass Supreme notchback hardtop and convertible body. A Hurst/Olds Cutlass 4-4-2 paced the Indianapolis 500, and Olds built about 630 replicas, some 25% of them convertibles.
2nd
The low-line F-85 series was down to a single four-door sedan and was then discontinued during the course of the 1972 model year due to low sales

Wikipedia, as usual, is not quite right. A 72 Hurst Olds is technically a Cutlass with the Hurst Olds W45 (or W46 for the X engine, I believe) package. It is not a 442, which is a Cutlass with a 442 package that year. Now, a 72 HO always has a 455 of one of two varieties, so it's a contender in value to a U code 442, maybe worth more. A 72 W-30 is worth more than a 72 HO, in my opinion, and a X engine HO is worth the most, I'd say.

Correct. No W-29 442 Supreme notchbacks. A Hurst/Olds is not a 442.

I wasn't trying to imply it was, just that wiki said it was!

Hey klm57, are the Grand Haven Jaycees having their car show in July? I tried to find it on their website, but no luck for this year.
