350 for $350

This guy on Craigslist list says he has a 350 from a late 70's olds. Says it doesn't run, needs carb work (guess it doesn't run because of the carb) says that he was told it was rebuilt some years ago but can't verify. For $350. I want to rebuild it if needed and put it in my 85 delta 88. Does it sound good to buy and is the price reasonable? Thanks

if its clean, mostly complete and stored inside and turns over that seems like a reasonable price

if its stuck stored outside under a tarp and missing everything then not so much.

you are going to get different opinions on this. Is it still in the car? Do you have the talent to get it to run if it is? Can you run it with a starter to see how it cranks and take compression?

Do anybody know if the 350 has a 2bbl or 4bbl? I have a 4bbl and I could just put my carb on that 350..

Doesn't sound like that great of a deal. If it was running then sure. Where are you located? If near me I can very easily point you to a better deal. Boz

This one ?
______
http://dallas.craigslist.org/sdf/pts/5593981212.html

olds 350 engine - - $350 (grandview)

Have a Olds 350 engine - out of late 70's car. Not running - needs carb work. Was told it was rebuilt a few years ago but can't verify that. Has an Edelbrock intake on it.

______

Looks like a 4 bbl & an E-brock would almost guarantee it, but hard to tell. HEI & EGR...and red ?

I was just going to suggest looking for one here, Nice to see Krom stepped up with an offering. I'm sure someone here will be able to hook you up if his is too far away.

Good luck with your search
Cheers
Eric

A non-running SB should go for less than $350.

As far as you're concerned, it's just a core.

If you post in the "Parts wanted" section, it couldn't hurt.

How badly do you need a motor right now?

I'm with MD on this one. Consider it a core and 350 is too much.

Well my 307 is knocking but I figure I have some time. I only drive my car to work which is 10 minutes away.

I picked up a nearly complete 75 350 off Craigslist for $250. It had been sitting in the corner of his garage for about 10 years. Seller claimed it had around 70K miles on it and it was really clean inside.

I opened it up and it really was clean other than a few acorns I found in the head ports.. I did a super budget rebuild on it (no machine work, but new gaskets, freeze plugs, oil pump, water pump, lifters and fuel pump) and it's been in my beater Pontiac for three years now and 30K miles.

I feel I got a good deal and will pull the engine back out when I scrap the car next year.

This is a great resource. I posted in this section and a member put me in touch with his buddy (A non member of CO) and I was able to get an exceptional deal on a 70' 350.
