1970 Paint Code Help
Does anyone have the current paint code for 1970 14-Platinum? My body shop guy is ready to spray my steel wheels but when he cross references the numbers he gets a Silver Mist Metallic. Is that the correct color? Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks

It looks like Sliver Mist Metallic is number 14 for the Buick of the same year, and it is not the same color! It is much lighter. Your color is shown here:

Number 2059 Platinum Poly.
Hope that helps a little!

1970 GM paint code 14 is the same color no matter which division's car the color is on.
Chevrolet - "Cortez silver metallic" (paint code 986 on a Corvette)
Buick - "silver mist metallic"
Oldsmobile - "platinum metallic"
Pontiac - "palladium metallic"
Cadillac - "patina silver metallic"
Also, the same color (name included) was available in '69 under different paint codes: 69 for BOP&Chevy, 986 again for Corvette, and 16 for Cadillac.

Ok, well that makes sense, Hurst68olds. One of the dangers of the internet is everyone will see a different color on their monitor, and scanning can make things look different. In this case the colors were not even close (the difference between a light silver and medium gray), so I didn't want him to get the wrong one.
Since they are all the same color, I guess he just needs the formula for any one of them. That is way easier!
